Definition

Visa – is an official document providing legal basis for foreigner, who visits a country in visa requirement regime, to entry to, temporary stay in a period indicated in a visa and leave the country by passing through border crossing points during that period.

Types

2 types of visas – entry visa (single and multiple) or transit visa (single and double) for foreigners and stateless persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan are issued in a following way:

Single entry visa – validity period of such type of visa is up to 90 days and allows only one entry-exit in this period.

Multiple entry visa – validity period of this visa is up to 2 years and allows a person to enter a country several times during a relevant period.

Single or double transit visa – are issued to foreigners and stateless persons to allow transit passage through the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan to a third country. Validity period of transit visa is 30 days; period of stay in a country is 5 days. Transit visas are issued by taking account traffic route via air, water, railway and other transport means and time spend on it.

Period of stay in a country indicated in a visa is used during a validity period of that visa. Visa that is not used during this period loses its force.

Categories and Purposes

Entry visa has three categories – diplomatic, service and ordinary.

Diplomatic and service entry visas - are issued to foreigners and stateless persons visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan for only official purposes.

Ordinary entry visa - can be issued to foreigners and stateless persons if they visit the Republic of Azerbaijan for the following purposes:

Business

Science and education

Labor

Tourism

Culture and sport

Humanitarian

Personal travel

Medical treatment

 Foreigners and stateless persons coming to the Republic of Azerbaijan for the purpose of education must obtain an educational visa.  You can get acquainted with the list of required documents for a visa by visiting the mentioned link

Foreigner and a stateless person should apply for visa personally or through his/her representative to the diplomatic representations and consulates of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the country that he/she lives or in the third country or can obtain an ASAN visa by going to www.evisa.gov.az (countries eligible for e-visa)

Registration upon place of stay

Foreigners or stateless persons temporarily staying in the Republic of Azerbaijan for more than 15 days (for more than 30 days for citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan) should get registered upon place of stay. For this purpose, management of the place of stay of the foreigner or stateless person or owner of the place of accommodation should submit the application for registration upon place of stay and copy of the passport/other border crossing document (including visa page and pages indicating last entry to the country) of that person through official webpage (www.migration.gov.az) of the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, e-mail (qeydiyyat@migration.gov.az) or in person to the Regional Migration Departments or "ASAN Service" centers within 15 days from the date of arrival of the foreigner in the country.

When a foreigner or stateless person changes his/her place of stay, he/she should get registered upon new place of stay within 5 working days from the date of arrival at the new address.

Foreigners and stateless persons can apply themselves in an aforementioned way for registration upon place of stay, as well.

No state fee is required for registration upon place of stay of foreigners and stateless persons

 

Temporary residence permit

An appropriate permit is obtained For the purpose of legalizing the presence and residence of foreigners and stateless persons who admitted to the Baku Engineering University and came to the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of a study visa.

Permit for temporary residence in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan is issued to foreigners and stateless persons by the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Applications of foreigners and stateless persons for issuance of permit for temporary residence in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan are processedwithin the period provided by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On State Fee" in accordance with the amount of state fee paid under this Law.

In case a permit for temporary residence in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan is issued to foreigners and stateless persons, those persons are provided with a permission card for temporary residence in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
